Adguard is an attractive, configurable app that lets you remove ads from web pages.

It's a lovely-looking program, with clean, clear lines, and easily accessible settings. Bear in mind that there are two ways of using Adguard - Basic interface and Extended interface. The Extended interface simply gives you more visible access to the more complex aspects of the program.

Adguard has a default setting that will give you medium ad protection from the get-go. In other words, if you never want to look at the nitty gritty, you don't have to. Simply start to browse as normal and you'll see your websites looking strangely bereft of ads. Adguard didn't manage to catch 100% of ads on the default protection level, but if there's one you've missed, you can block it yourself.

As well as offering protection against ads you don't want to see, Adguard also has protection from malware and phishing sites, and eliminates infuriating pop-ups. If you delve into the program, you'll see that it's also quite configurable. For example, although Adguard works with all main browsers, you can also make it work with lesser known alternatives, or tweak its filters to catch different types of ad. Unfortunately, Adguard has a major downfall. It significantly slowed browsing during our tests, which was surprising, especially as the app claims to speed up loading! It was very disappointing and, unfortunately, not really a problem that we can overlook. Until Adguard sorts its speed problems out, it's almost impossible to recommend.

Adguard looks great, is easy to use, and does a great job blocking ads and pop ups. Unfortunately, it's too slow for everyday use.

Als klap op de vuurpijl heeft System Nucleus ook alle standaardopties uit het configuratiescherm van Windows aan boord, zodat je de gereedschappen in één overzicht hebt (in het menu 'Tools'). Ondanks de potentie van System Nucleus is de overvloed aan functies niet voor iedereen weggelegd: vooral systeembeheerders smullen van de app.

Menu's, menu's en nog eens menu's. De honderden functies van System Nucleus zijn indrukwekkend maar slechts effectief voor getrainde ogen. Heb je verstand van systeemonderhoud dan is de software een krachtig instrument, zo niet dan raden wij het ietwat simpelere Glary Utilities aan voor onderhoud en Speccy voor snelle systeeminfo.

We hebben niks aan te merken op de functionaliteit van FastestTube, noch op de kwaliteit & snelheid van de uitvoer. We zijn er echter niet van gediend dat de extensie zonder jouw goedkeuring een andere extensie installeert. Het gaat hierbij om Adlesse Lite, een toevoeging die advertenties in zoekmachines vervangt door berichten uit het nieuws en sociale media. Dit mag dan wel nuttig zijn, maar toch geven we hiervoor liever eerst onze toestemming.

Wil je een video downloaden van YouTube, dan doe je dit met FastestTube gewoon vanuit de webbrowser. Let wel op, want FastestTube installeert ongevraagd een tweede extensie.

Vooral gamers zullen dit programma waarderen, daar het weinig geheugen opeist tijdens het scannen.

De installatie van BitDefender Antivirus duurt belachelijk lang. Je hebt maar één kans om een eerste indruk te maken en daar laten de makers een flinke steek vallen. Het is namelijk een goedwerkende applicatie, maar wij zijn erg teleurgesteld over de vele keren opnieuw opstarten en het overdreven aantal te verrichten handelingen tijdens de installatie.

BitDefender Antivirus is een goede beveiliging voor je computer. Om je systeem te beschermen moet je echter wel eerst door een kist zure appels heen bijten. De installatie duurt zo lang dat de moed je snel in de schoenen zakt. Wat dat betreft raden we je liever het gratis Avast! Home aan.

A very thorough checker but could do with a few tweaks and improvements to make it more lightweight and discreet.

If you're always using the same applications and always use your Start menu to execute them, then you can speed up your life with this application.

With Qsel you can configure your own menu on the desktop to open the programs you use most frequently. You just have to set up your own list of applications and whether you want them to appear minimized or maximized on your screen. You can configure them to remain in the system tray or choose to keep it always in the background. A bonus is that Qsel does not require installation as it can be run directly from the ZIP file. The extra SetupWiz offers a Qsel data folder in the "Application Data" domain.
