If you're lucky enough to own a ebook (electronic book) reader, or just feel like reading ebooks on your desktop or netbook, Calibre will help keep them organized. Calibre is a library for eBooks. It has a big, bold interface that's really easy to use, and ebook files of most formats can just be dragged into the Calibre window. Editing the metadata (title, genre etc) is just a case of hitting the button on the tool bar, and typing in your changes. You can select multiple books and edit them in bulk too, for example if you want to regroup some books in a particular genre. Viewing is also just a button click, and opens an ebook reader window. Here you can increase or decrease the font size to your comfort, add bookmarks and more. You can also set Calibre to download feed from news websites, although the layout results are sometimes a bit odd. There is also a delayed start-up option, to speed the whole process up, and a customizable automatic shutdown option for non-responding programs. These features are really only the tip of the AnVir Task Manager iceberg. To get the most from the program, you'll have to spend some time with it, checking options and opening menus. Even beginners can happily test it out since it prompts you to set restore points and has ample tooltips to guide you along the way. AnVir Task Manager provides loads of information on your programs and processes, and uses color codes to help you identify memory hogs and other leeches. All in all, if you want more control over your computer, AnVir Task Manager will provide it. If you're not sure, give it a try - you might like it! One thing that annoys me a lot about Windows is the incredible amount of time the computer takes to move or copy files from one location to another. Fortunately I can now use a tool that fixes this issue. TeraCopy enables you to copy and/or move files within Windows in a much faster way ? an improvement you'll be especially grateful for when dealing with several gigabytes of data. The program couldn't be easier to use: simply select the files you want to copy or move, right click with your mouse and select the "TeraCopy" command. The program will launch a window where you can select the target folder and the correspondent action (move, copy, test). TeraCopy can also be launched on its own, in which case you'll need to drag and drop the files you want to copy or move onto the program's window. This method though is not as intuitive as using the right-click menu, as it takes a while to find the basic menus and options in TeraCopy's interface. TeraCopy copies and moves large quantities of files much faster than the standard Windows file manager.
