Quando decidi di far entrare l'orda inizia l'azione dura e pura a colpi di balestra, incantesimi e spada.</p> <p>Inizialmente disponi di poche trappole, la cui unica funzione è quella di rallentare il nemico, per meglio premetterti di trucidarlo. Dopo ogni livello, però, avrai a disposizione una nuova arma e la possibilità di potenziare quelle già in tuo possesso.</p> <p>Orcs Must Die! ha una buona grafica condita con elementi volutamente caricaturali. Con le versioni a pagamento del programma hai anche diritto a scaricare gratis un bel po' di campioni, ottimi per rimpinguare il tuo arsenale musicale.</p> <p><strong>Quali controller MIDI posso usare con Virtual DJ?</strong></p> <p>Mixare musica senza un'interfaccia fisica con cui controllare la tua console virtuale può diventare complicato. In commercio ci sono tanti <strong>controller </strong>e praticamente tutti sono compatibili con Virtual DJ. Il nostro consiglio per la scelta è di toccare con mano per capire qual è quello che a te sembra più piacevole da usare.</p> <p>Alcune avvertenze però vanno tenute a mente:</p> <p>- con la versione LE di VirtualDJ puoi usare esclusivamente il controller che la aveva in bundle; <br />- con la versione Home puoi usare il controller che vuoi, ma funzionerà solo per <strong>10 minuti a sessione</strong>. Passato questo tempo, per usarlo ancora dovrai scollegarlo e ricollegarlo al computer.</p> <p>La versione Pro Full non ha invece alcun tipo di limitazione in relazione all'uso dei controller.</p> <p><strong>Alternative a Virtual DJ</strong></p> <p>Esistono console virtuali da disk jockey per qualunque esigenza. Alcune, per qualità, feature e difficoltà d'uso, sono indicate solo per professionisti (Torq, ad esempio). Questo vuol dire che, oltre ad un sequencer avanzatissimo per registrare in tempo reale tracce audio e MIDI, hai a disposizione <strong>drum machine</strong>, <strong>simulatori di amplificatori per basso e chitarra</strong>, <strong>campionatori </strong>ed <strong>effetti </strong>di ogni tipo. È anche possibile creare dei <strong>rack di effetti personalizzati</strong> che puoi salvare per usi futuri.</p> <p><strong>Due interfacce per soddisfare tutte le esigenze</strong> <br />Una delle peculiarità di Ableton Live e di Ableton Live Intro è la presenza di due diverse visualizzazioni dell'interfaccia, una specifica per suonare dal vivo e pensata avendo in mente le esigenze dei DJ e dei musicisti elettronici, e una classica, da sequencer puro, con cui puoi registrare ed arrangiare in maniera classica.</p> <p>Il primo tipo di visualizzazione è anche uno strumento di arrangiamento geniale che nessun altro programma vanta. La possibilità di muovere, duplicare, editare ogni clip e di sistemarlo in un qualunque punto dell'interfaccia ti permette infatti di provare arrangiamenti diversi nel modo più intuitivo. Prova, cambia, aggiungi, togli. In Ableton Live è tutto incredibilmente facile.</p> <p><strong>Extract Groove: copia e incolla il feel ritmico di una traccia</strong> <br />Una delle funzioni peculiari di Ableton Live Intro è Extract Groove, che estrae il "feel" di un file audio per applicarlo ad un altro. Chiariamo con un esempio. Mettiamo il caso che tu abbia una traccia audio di batteria che ti piace moltissimo e che tu voglia usarla in un pezzo che stai scrivendo.</p> <p>La procedura è semplice: prendi il file audio e lo importi nella timeline di Ableton Live Intro, che automaticamente la metterà a tempo col resto. Ma c'è un problema: il feel della batteria non si adatta a quello del resto degli strumenti e si avverte chiaramente che si tratta di una traccia inserita "a forza".</p> <p>Con Ableton Live Intro il problema si risolve con un semplice click del mouse. Vai ad esempio sulla traccia che contiene il basso o un altro strumento che nel pezzo svolge un ruolo ritmico rilevante (può essere una chitarra funky, o un pianoforte, ad esempio), cliccaci con il tasto destro e scegli Estrai groove da menu.</p> <p>In questo modo il groove viene salvato nella Raccolta di groove. The bottom of the panel features buttons to write a twitter update, refresh the feed, read your direct mail and check out your favorite twitter friends. One cool feature is URLs pasted into your update are automatically converted to tinyURL, saving you precious letter space.</p> <p>Blu should be lauded for having a name that doesn't feature some the prefix 'Twit', but it is not perfect. firstly, the feed only updates every 2 minutes - it's not 'live', and it would be better if when minimized it sat in the toolbar, as having a client like this open all the time will add to the clutter on your task bar. The biggest problem with Blu, however, is its memory usage. When you refresh the feed Blu flashes, and it looks great, but really eats into your CPU usage, as do all of Blu's functions!
